In the autumn of 1983 I witnessed a PBS pledge drive not only go off the rails but also slam into an orphanage and burst into flames. It’s a story I’m often called upon to tell at parties.
What started out as a 5 minute video about my love of the 1960s TV show “The Prisoner” turned into a 23 minute rant about television, parenting, student teachers, Harlen Ellisong, and Canadian honor students. Oh, and I think I also mentioned Dachau and “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman”. Be seeing you.
